Gold Exchange Program

As of 2026, I am accepting select solid gold jewelry through my Gold Exchange Program, offering either cash payout or store credit toward a new treasure.

With gold at historic highs, buying and selling jewelry looks very different than it once did. This program was created to benefit both parties, allowing you to give new life to gold pieces sitting unworn in your jewelry box, while helping Mel's Treasures continue sourcing meaningful, high-quality vintage gold in a thoughtful, sustainable way. Thus saving old gold from being melted down, and preserving treasures by giving them a new life and home. This is a highly curated, trust-based program, guided by transparency, respect, and mutual understanding.

How It Works

  1. Email your inquiry
    Please contact me directly at melstreasuress@gmail.com with your interest. Include clear photographs of each piece, along with any available specifications (karat, weight, length, width, etc.)
  2. Review & selection
    I am very selective about what I accept, as all pieces must align with my aesthetic and brand. This is never personal—just part of maintaining a cohesive and curated collection.
  3. Shipping & Quality ControlOnce we have agreed on the items to be accepted into the program, you will ship your pieces directly to me. Shipping is arranged at the sender’s cost and risk. Upon receipt, each piece is carefully inspected and tested to verify gold purity and overall condition. Only items that meet quality standards consistent with my brand will move forward to resale. At this time, it is much easier to offer this program domestically (within Australia), but I am open to discussing international clients that I trust and have worked with in the past on a case-by case basis. 
  4. Consignment-based resale
    This program operates primarily on a consignment basis. If your piece is accepted, we will agree on pricing together. Payment (cash or credit) is issued once the item sells, typically within 30 days. Alternative timelines can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Pricing Options

  • Cash payout: Approximately 5–10% below spot price (which is 10-15% better than melt)

  • Store credit: Approximately 5–10% above spot price

As gold prices fluctuate, we can openly discuss strategies to navigate market changes in a way that feels fair and comfortable for both of us.

What I’m Looking For

At this time, I am primarily seeking solid gold chains and similar wearable staples. I will generally be avoiding diamonds and gemstones, as I am not a certified gemologist and third-party certifications can be costly and complex. Thank you for understanding.
